In the Badlands Job, Zare meets a kiroen, a unicorn, named Rosh. Long story short: she now owes Rosh a favor.

I found a picture of a mounted archer and decided to practice with the intense ink sticks–big unwieldy things–forcing myself to rely on bigger, sweeping strokes of vivid color. After I accidentally dumped out my–carefully arranged and color coded–case and having to painstakingly find each stick’s proper home, I got to work.
It was good practice for me. Didn’t come out too awful, either.
Arora
A’rora is different from Zare. She is the inheriting royal, she is queenly. Which isn’t to say she isn’t also formidable.
hoopskirt job
The more I write in the River Rebellion, the more of this story I learn. You might get it someday. I know I post about it often, but that’s because there is an absolutely outrageous dress and a massive headdress and veil. Such things are fantastic fun to imagine.
Shyr Valla
The Eight city, the one that Narya Magnifique wiped off the map, controlled the source of the mighty Bandui River. It was a spectacular city, with mines and waterways and culture. And plumed helmets. Because that’s just awesome.
Galhirim
Every now and then it only takes one try to totally nail exactly what you saw in your mind’s eye. I treasure these moments.

A’rora Wynn. You don’t know her yet. But you will.

I am working on a piece to capture the ghostly figure of “Nelia of Legend” at the Bridge at Cymerie. It’s not done, but I really like where it’s going.

No Trace
Spring is such a time of travel madness it puts a serious damper on writing time and energy. Zare will return as soon as I can manage! In the meantime, I’ve done a little painting. Not, you know, a LOT, since I’ve been rather busy, but a little!
I’m not sure this piece is done, but it’s Trinh approaching the spot where Shyr Valla, the Eighth City, used to be. Trinh is actually one of my favorite characters in the big story. The big story, of which River Rebellion is only the beginning.
